breast pocket of a coat to increase the coat’s aesthetic appeal.

quarter of an inch and then tightly stitched into place.

Pocket square folding –
The unique way in which the pocket square is folded prior to being
placed in the pocket. The folding technique chosen depends on the

amount of fabric that should be shown above the rim of the pocket.
Some of the pocket square
folding techniques include the Astaire fold, Presidential
fold, Cooper Fold, Cagney fold, TV Fold, one-point fold, two-point
fold, three-point fold, four-point fold, puff fold, reverse puff
fold, straight Shell fold, diagonal shell fold, and Winged Puff
fold.

specifications. These pocket squares could include the owner’s
initials, some souvenir-like logo, or a family crest.
Pre-folded pocket squares –
Pocket squares that are permanently folded into
the desired fold. These pocket squares can be directly inserted into
the suit pocket with the breadth being constant and the length being
adjustable depending upon how much fabric needs to be seen above the
rim of the pocket.
Perfumed pocket squares –
Men’s pocket squares that are either made from
pre-scented materials or are treated with a perfume prior
to usage. These pocket squares exude a pleasant fragrance.
Designer pocket squares –
Pocket squares that are created by professional designers and
sometimes displayed at various seasonal collections. These pocket
squares could be made of both silk as well as linen.
Boutonniere - An
artificial flower that is pinned above the left breast pocket of the
suit or affixed to the coats lapel. The pocket square is generally
used as a substitute to the boutonniere.
